I was watching “Second Star to the Right” again and I noticed something in this moment.
Right after Emma asks how she’s going to tell Henry that his father is gone, Charming looks over his shoulder at Snow. He realizes that he’s never really had a moment with Emma like this. A moment where she needs comfort but his wife isn’t there. So what does he do? He does what any good father does. He gives his daughter a kiss. He doesn’t know what to say. He cannot conjure up any words that would make his little girl’s pain go away. So he does the only thing he can do: gives her a loving, fatherly kiss on the forehead because he wants his daughter to know that he is there. He might not have the right words to say, but he is there for her and always will be.
